So was it Judas or National Geographic?

A new article in The Chronicle of Higher Education sums up the controversy of the Gospel of Judas as a bungled translation provoked and perpetuated by The National Geographic Society in a drive to maximize its revenue.

Is an emphasis on scholarship over popular spectacle too much to ask?

Well, yes apparently.

Nerds

As a self-identified nerd, I immediately noticed the title "The Alpha Geeks" on the David Brooks
op-ed piece in The New York Times. In my experience, nerd and geek tend to be rough synonyms, and Brooks reverses the definitions I'm used to. Still, he helped me feel good on a rough day: the last day of school where I teach.
